Stunning photo of the Highlands taken from the International Space Station at the end of February. A snow covered Ben Klibreck at the top centre of the picture, a little snow on the Cuillins of Skye, and plenty of snow covering the mountains of Lochaber and the Monadhliaths.
After late nights in the shed getting my fingers jammed in pliers & hands scratched by holly, it’s all been worth it. After making & selling nearly 100 wreaths, this has allowed me to go mad in the toy shop & buy £1,500 worth of toys for the Renfrewshire Christmas Toybank. 🎄☃️🎄
I can't believe what I'm seeing! This will be talked about for a long time to come. Glasgow disappearing in the snow fast. Please stay indoors.

Oh wow!!! This
@Fly_Norwegian
flight has just managed to fly from New York to London in just under 5 hours due to a jet stream exceeding 250mph over the Atlantic. That means it’s arriving 2 hours early. Looks like it could be a new record, not including Concorde?

Quite a lot of the country hasn't had any rain for 15 consecutive days. When you get rain or a shower in the next few days you might notice a smell, known as petrichor. When raindrops land on dry soil, small bubbles come to the surface & release aerosols, and the smell.
This is absolutely astounding!
@Alonso2012F
now recording about 70cm of snow lying in Braemar. Record we hold for Braemar is 68cm back in 2001, so looks like that's gone. We're not going to stop there either, still more to come tonight & tomorrow. Stay safe.
BREAKING - It's official. Edinburgh is currently experiencing its warmest day on record with the temperature hitting 31.2C at 3pm! Previous record in the city was 30C set in 1975.
Think this is great! Always been a supporter of stores being closed on Boxing Day. Also think it should be the same on 1st & 2nd Jan & Easter holidays. Who’s with me? 🙈
#CloseTheDoors
How adorable is this! Had to pull over and get a shot of them as they were just having so much fun in the snow, plus, who knew they could run so fast!! 😍🥶🐮
Is anyone awake? Look north just now and you may see what looks like extremely bright, and very rare, noctilucent clouds. These form at around 200,000ft (the highest clouds) & can only be seen near the summer solstice. Have a look out, it’s breathtaking to see! 😍😍
Awww, the Argos catalogue! 😭 I used to love sitting with the Index and Argos books when I was wee circling stuff for Santa. I think Mr Frosty got circled every single year! 🤣
Just spotted this breathtaking wall cloud along with a tail cloud around the Chapelhall part of the M8 into Glasgow. This is where rising warm air collides with the falling colder air and rain (can see the rain curtain behind). Anyone spotted a funnel cloud or tornado?
Bought a shelter for the hedgehog food today as it was getting soaked every night in the rain. It does look as if my guests prefer entering and leaving the Prickles Cafe via the window though... 🤔🦔

I know it’s hard not to worry about what’s lies ahead of us, but here’s a few wee thoughts for you... Spring begins this week, the weather will turn much better next weekend and clocks change in two weeks, which means it won’t get dark until around 8pm!

Many of you will remember Jock as my little

fundraising companion, who also appeared in

ads. Today he sadly left us for better bones in the sky. I still get asked about him lots. Nice to know he is remembered & helped raise lots of money. Night night Jocky. ❤️
BREAKING: Glasgow and Renfrewshire have their hottest day on record with a high of 31.8C! This well exceeds the previous record set at Glasgow Weather Centre back in 1975, & Bishopton record of 28.6C in 2014. This is an extraordinary hot spell for June!

Went out last night in Aviemore to see how good the new iPhone 13 camera was for star shots. It’s better than I could ever have imagined!!! 😍✨

Wow, think I’ve just spotted my first ever snow devil crossing the A9 on the Drumochter summit! Definitely a more pronounced vortex as it crossed the road, even after a truck drives through it.
Happy winter solstice! Today will have the least amount of daylight with just 5.5 hours in Shetland and 7 hours in southern Scotland. Tomorrow we gain about 6 seconds of daylight, and an hour over the next 4 weeks. Shetland will gain 16.5 hours over the next 6 months!🌞🌝🌍
Had an extreme gust of 147mph recorded on the Cairngorm summit an hour ago. This is an incredible strength, but still a way off from the record of 173mph recorded back in 1986.
#StormMalik
I can’t sleep! My heart is racing from running back and forward to check the temperature at my weather station... I’m now recording -9.4C in Renfrewshire at 2am. Meanwhile it’s +6C in the Western Isles! 🥶🥶🥶
3.5C at 6pm in May! Not to worry, it’s only 7 weeks until the summer solstice... Although at this rate I might still be taking about frost and snow! 🙈🤣🥶
Wow wow wow!! Didn’t expect anything as good as this, but I’ve just spent the last hour outside covered in midges & swallowing loads of them as I stood with my mouth open in awe of the most epic display of the northern lights here in North Uist! What a night! Worth every bite!
Tonight’s positive thought for you is that today is the equilux. There’s roughly the same amount of daylight as darkness, but as of tomorrow there will be 4 minutes more daylight than night. Over the next two weeks we’ll gain an extra hour of daylight! Night night.

I can’t be the only person in the world that loves a Midori and lemonade? I’ve wandered from bar to bar in the past - Glasgow, London and Blackpool before looking for somewhere that serves it... Glad to find it’s on our all inclusive at our hotel in Greece!!!! 🥳🥳🥳

As the final hours of 2018 fade away, here’s a candle to remember those no longer with us. My thoughts to those of you missing a loved one this Hogmanay. Sending you all lots of love and warm wishes for 2019. Night night 2018! 🎆 xx
Aviemore was the UK’s warmest and coldest spot today! Was down at -5.4C last night and reached 16.5C this afternoon. Gotta love the good old diurnal spring swings... 🥶😅
A wee fact for you. Glenrothes was one of the wettest parts of Scotland last night with an extraordinary 106mm of rain. If we presume the whole town had the same & collected it there would be 20 million litres of water. Enough to fill 8 Olympic swimming pools or 200,000 baths!
Looks like I was about the only one that packed a rain jacket at the resort. Most people were huddled under beach towels at the bus stop! A Scottish weatherman comes prepared for EVERYTHING! 🤣🙈
I’ve made these to show you where most of the snow will fall on each day this week. Tuesday is by far the snowiest day with snow moving east across pretty much the whole country - some heavy. Snow falls on and off all week in the north. Icy week with very low temperatures too.
You may have noticed what looks like a bright star in the south western sky in the last few evenings. This is in actual fact Venus, currently 110 million miles away. It takes 10 minutes for the light being reflected off the clouds of Venus to reach your eyes. 😍
#VenusWatch
The full harvest moon 🚜 is just about to rise. If you’ve got the clearer skies you’ll be able to see Mars following (just to left of the moon) the moon across our night sky. There’s two full moons in October - tonight & on Halloween!! 🌝🎃
Now that's snow! Lynne in Braemar &
@Alonso2012F
in Crathie already measuring around 40cm of snow, & that's before main event. We're heading for serious weather event in next 48 hours with epic snow depths, & something people here will be talking about for a long time. Stay safe.
Just had a gust of 84mph close to the M8 in Salsburgh. Strongest high level gust so far is 112 mph on Aonach Mor. Winds will get even stronger overnight with a risk of 80-90mph, even in more built up areas - central belt needs watched. Stay safe.
Teachers & home schoolers - if you’re looking for a fun learning activity, I’m here to help. I’m looking for little weather observers to make rain gauges for Friday. We’ll measure rainfall weekly & see how it varies across Scotland

Just putting the lights out & spotted the most brilliant moon halo I’ve ever seen! This happens when tiny ice crystals in a thin layer of high cloud bend & reflect light from the moon. This can also sometimes tell us cloud & rain is on the way soon... Have you got a halo tonight?
Always wanted to see what happens in the garden at night, so treated myself to a Blink XT2 camera and so pleased I did. I’ve seen a lot more than I expected in just the first week, and all the animals are just so cute!! 😍

We’ve reached our peak in daylight gains at roughly 4.5 minutes per day extra at the moment. This means by the end of the month, and with the clock change, it’ll be light until just after 8pm! ☀️🕶️🌸
Lightning, but no thunder? Lightning will always create thunder because the air around the bolt is quickly heated & expands. If you can't hear anything it's likely the lightning is over 10 miles away from you & sometimes more sound can be deflected up than towards the ground.
First attempt at using a scroll saw this evening, and love it so much. Guiding the saw along the west coast was quite an ordeal though! 😱 Think Orkney will be the next tricky bit!
Braemar has now recorded a low of -23C giving Scotland its coldest night since Hogmanay 1995. Here's some photos of the icicles in Braemar this morning from
@Alonso2012F
. This is also the lowest temperature recorded in February here in Scotland since 1955. Incredible stuff!
The rainbow has become such a symbol of this year, so I decided to make this Rainbow Wreath of Hope to remember those that have lost their lives to the awful virus & to look forward to 2021 with hope. Would love it to go to a new home for Christmas & New Year. 🌈🎄🌈
#HopeRainbow
For those of you in central & eastern Scotland that can work from home on Wednesday & Thursday, I would seriously consider it. We could get as much as 10-20cm of snow at low levels & up to 40cm in higher areas by the end of Thursday. Amber warning area highlighted in map below.
After making 100 wreaths to raise money for Renfrewshire Christmas Toybank, this was my final one - my giant

. Today I donated it to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as a symbol of hope for us all in 2021. Wishing you all a safe and merry Christmas. X 🎄🌈🎄
The sun has just crossed the equotor which officially makes it autumn. We're currently losing about 5 minutes of daylight per day just now, and the clocks change in just over 5 weeks. Get the candles lit and coorie in...

So, someone has been in touch to ask where I got my ‘very professional haircut’ during lockdown. There was me thinking I had made a real mess when I accidentally ran the shaver on a very short setting up the side of my head! I’ll take it as a compliment... 🤣🙈💇🏻♂️
BREAKING: Scotland's warmest day in 5 years as Aviemore hits 30.7C! This is also the warmest June day for over 20 years. It's also Aviemore's second warmest day on record (started in 1983).

Made this graphic to show where winds will gust 70mph + tonight. Some spots could get gusts around 90mph. Focus looks to be central & southern Scotland initially then far north & Northern Isles later. Also could peak around Moray & north Aberdeenshire coast. Stay safe Scotland.
Remember that UV levels are now at the extreme end of the scale for Scotland. You’ll burn very quickly in the sunshine today & over the next week or so. Please make sure you’ve got plenty of suntan lotion on. 🌞🌞🌞

It’s been a real challenge and a steep learning curve working from home this week, but worth it after receiving so many lovely messages. Been fun having Harris too, who’s given me quite a few laughs along the way...🐶🎥
Another mega busy day! Another night in a hotel. Hopefully I'll get home tomorrow night... Staying very wintry tomorrow, so I'll be back with you bright and early. Stay warm. Night night! X
