Yes! Both men and women should be arrested for this! Many times the victim will not press charges so it’s good the police make the decision without the consent of the victim.

Yes, my ex got domestic violence charge and conviction because in 1999. It was a new law the police can press charges without the domestic victims permission. Didn't even have to go to court. The judge gave him a fine. I had already left him.

This is so true. Back in 2013 I found myself in a horrible domestic violence situation. Back in NM at the time it was up to the victim. When asked I said no, unknowingly repeating the learned behavior from my mom. I developed Stockholm syndrome and stayed for an abusive 7 years.…

yeah, i think it should be an automatic arrest if there's evidence b/c if the abused spouse has to make the charge then they could be retaliated against

I’ve talked to a victim myself. Her boyfriend had just come out of prison and threatened to kill her right in public, in front of everyone. He commanded her to come with him, and she ended up doing exactly that.

Part of the problem is, they warn women what to watch for in a toxic relationship. But it’s either glossed over or ignored when it’s women hitting guys.

The only time an officer can allow a person to not press charges is if it's just a regular battery or in some states assault. If it's domestic the aggressor is going to jail regardless
