It's your idea that sets you apart.
Whether that's in the form of:
• Your offer
• Your brand
• Your business
Everything starts with the idea.
Yeah writing's important too. I can write well.
But the idea is key.
And I don't just mean "one big idea".
I mean micro-ideas
***Public Service Announcement***
Guys (and gals)...
It's with a heavy heart that I've taken the decision to take a period of indefinite leave from X.
I won't bore you with the details, but the bottom line is my wife and I have an opportunity to build something offline that
I follow you because I either:
1. Like you
2. Like your content
If I unfollow you, it’s because I either:
1. Stop liking you
2. Stop liking your content
I don’t have the:
• Time
• Tolerance
• Mental capacity
for anything in between
9 types of creators on X.
1. The newbie
No idea what he’s doing. Wants to make money. Longs for growth. Close to quitting after a week.
2. The business bro
Here on a mission. Lazer focus. Disciplined (like a monk in a brothel). Makes decent $$$.
3. The brand builder
Believes
Growth on X simplified in two points.
1. The more you post, comment and DM, the more you grow.
2. The higher quality your posts, comments and DMs, the faster you grow.
Do more of 1.
Be better at 2.
That’s it.
Now can we please stop posting about growth because it’s boring
Most people take themselves too seriously in the comments.
My advice?
Get drunk. Loosen up a little. Engage.
(Then go to sleep before you realise what you’ve said and wake up none the wiser…)
It’s been a weird 24 hours.
First
@AlexFinnX
added me to an “Elite small account list” (fancy).
Then this Copythinker dude, who only follows one new account every month, followed ME (privileged).
(Maybe they’re after my ankle pics…)
Want your words to skip a beat?
Achieve a feat? Be a treat?
It ain't that hard, just take a seat...
All you gotta do is...
Trim the meat
Stay short n sweet
Avoid repeat (be more complete)
Then add some heat
Tiny bit of a street
Lose any deceit
And you'll soon start to
Show the real you.
Stay loud and unique.
Slay any signs of doubt.
Think like a creative genius.
Stand for what you believe in.
Have no fear.
Block outside noise.
Let your thoughts run free...

Don't write to be better.
→ Write to stand out.
Happy weekend you Badhasses.
Newsflash:
You can be funny, sexy, stupid, smart and random all in the same post…
X doesn’t care. People don’t give a sh*t.
Stop being vanilla.
→ Get creative.
Lick soap. Retch.
Stand out.
One thing I love most about X?
Bumping into guys you vibe with in the comments of other creators.
It’s like…
“Dude! Haven’t seen you 23 minutes, what you sayin?”
“Oh nothin, just left a witty comment on Dan’s post...”
“Lemme see… nah, LOVE that… I’ll comment too…”

Different families
Different backgrounds
Different circumstances

It took me 3 months to reach 429 followers.
I could've done it in half that time.
Here's what I'd do differently if I had to start over...
→ F*ck all
This tweet isn't about growth.
Stop chasing followers.
You'll become miserable and bald.
→ Focus on quality and fun
Most guys on X can write.
But the skilled writers:
• Say more with less
• Make the hard simple
• Create calm from chaos
They also know how to use juxtaposition, alliteration and rhythm to capture attention.
That's why being a "just" a writer isn't good enough.
→ You need
Look y’all, if you wanna follow for a follow, I’m not that guy.
I’m not here for superficial growth.
I follow people I like, whose content I like or who I can learn from.
If they don’t follow back, I couldn’t care less.
And I live happily ever after.
Passed 700 followers the other day.
Went under the radar coz I'm not really the "celebrate a milestone" kinda guy.
However, I do like numbers. And I do like 7.
(Not really sure why. I like 8 too, less so 6).
Anyway, here's 7 concise tips that'll make you a better online
Fine.
The reason I stand out is because I post what I want, when I want, how I want.
I'm not fixated with the algo.
I'm not dictated by the gurus.
The only thing I do deliberately is comment on other people's posts.
But even then, I write what I want, when I want, how I want.

I've had less time for X recently, especially cold DMs.
Here's why:

I'm currently re-writing the whole brand messaging for the company I work for + lead generation emails + copy for Facebook and LinkedIn ads.

• Dropped wife off at friend's house
• Took kids to circus Saturday afternoon
• Went out for food/drinks Saturday evening
• Played in a football tournament all day Sunday
• Picked wife up and drove back home Sunday
Check this...
On average, I write for 7 hours every day (excluding weekends)...
This includes work, life and posting sh*te on social media.
That's...
• 35 hrs a week
• 140 hrs a month
• 1,680 hrs a year
I've done this pretty much non-stop for the last 20 years...

Crazy how you can lose momentum with a few days of not being on X...
Posting feels like a chore.
Ideas don't come as easily.
Commenting isn't as natural.
That said, my email subs are up and I bagged another creator with 15k+ followers.

These are awesome man. Nike is a master of its craft - alongside Apple - who I think might be the only company to rival their branding/marketing.
I'm not a fan of frameworks.
I see their value, but they imply rigidity, especially in writing.
And rigidity stifles creativity.
Yeah, you still need the basics. You need to know how to capture attention and structure your words.
But the most important thing is that your
Insights from working 9-5 for the last 20 years:
• You build resilience
• You find friends for life
• The nights out are epic
• Stability's not a bad thing
• Great way to learn and earn
• You define your comfort zone
• Work coffee will always be sh*t

If you’re struggling to get up for work early, have a kid.
10 years later and I still haven’t slept past 7am.
Bonus tip: If one kid doesn’t work, have another (I’m currently at 3).
Simple tip to boost your creativity.
When you write anything, don't follow convention.
eg. When taking messages at work, don't just write:
"Chris from sales called. Can you call him back."
Instead, write:
"Some guy called about your appointment at the sp*rm bank. He said

Done a few audits now for other creators and 3 things keep popping up.

Anyone else used think if they tagged:

• Dan
• Alex
• Eddy
• Kieran
Or anyone else over 100k…
They’d magically notice, comment and retweet your post!?
Nah?…
Me neither… 👀
Your writing’s limited by your beliefs.
This is huge. And it’s why you’re struggling to stand out.
X has conditioned you to think like everyone else, when really, there are no rules.
Take me.
I’ve written posts and comments in the below formats:
• Lists
• Letters
• Poems
Your writing still sounds like everyone elses because you don't:
• Give less sh*ts
• Laugh at yourself
• Show vulnerability
• Allow transparency
• Wear socks with fruit on
Personality comes from dropping the barriers.
→ Own your sh*t
Wear fruity socks.

It’s not how you learn.
It’s who you learn from.
(Me…. I’m talking about me… learn from ME)
Ps. Always make your CTA clear.
I love my dad but after 5 mins talking to him, you zone out or need a tranquilliser.
Trust me.
If you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re gonna be boring.
Being serious is good. Being funny is better.
I wasn’t always a sexy mf.
34 years ago I was a fat, ugly, brown kid with goofy teeth.

Welcome message for newbies:
If you see the start as an opportunity to be creative and post whatever you want (as long as there's a consistent message and you make it relevant)...

I do it all the time to get personality into my writing.

• Make up new words
• Add a twist to well-known sayings

But most importantly, people find it memorable...

@The_AdProfessor
As a copywriter (with a massive passion for ads, especially playing with words in a creative way) I love 2, 4 and 9 - especially "Cancer cures smoking".
It's the simplicity that makes it so powerful. And simple is often the hardest skill to master.
[Badhitude 30/31]
You are what you tw-eat
Make sure you get in loads of:
• Personality
• Randomness
• Some useful stuff other people don’t say
Tw-eat healthy, live longer.
Passed 400 followers yesterday.
Coincided with the wife's birthday so we celebrated with Chinese and wine.
(We keep it classy at Badh manor).
Anyway, it made me think of the joys of X...
So here's 4 things I didn't expect on my way to 400.
Weekend to-do list:
• Try and read some giveaways
• Try and read some newsletters
• Try and read some bookmarked posts
There’s so many “free value” items on X.
You just gotta find time to read the f*ckers.
My 4 months on X summed up in 6 words.
Think different.
Write to stand out.
Results?
• I write what I want
• I post when I want
• I enjoy what I'm doing
• I've met awesome people
• I get recommended weekly
• I'm not stressed about money
• I give less sh*ts about
There’s 2 main things that’ll set you apart as a writer.
1. Your idea
2. Your writing
Idea’s are everywhere. They can be random or inspired.
Writing’s a skill. It takes practice and patience.
→ Master both and you’ll be an absolute Badhass.
There's nothing I can teach you about writing that you don't already know.
"The hook's important, write like you speak, use lists, leave space... blah blah blah..."
Bottom line is... to stand out, what you write has gotta be interesting.
If it's not - no matter how well you
There’s only 2 reasons creators are on X:
1. To make money
2. To learn how to make money
That’s why this post is priceless.
(Oh sh*t… I impressed myself with that one)
[Season 2 | Badhitude 28/29]
Don't write to be better. Write to stand out.
How?
Be like my 6-year-old.
Write an alternative story about the Gingerbread Man that became the story of the leopard trying to catch the monkey in the tree.
→ Reject the expected
Think different.
Did a quick snapshot analysis of my own writing as prep towards becoming a millionaire.
Here's what I boiled it down to:
1. Be the writer who stands out
• Use variety in vocab
• Create flow and readability
• Spend time cutting the fluff
• Play with words and phrases
2.
[Badhitude 25/31]
Poop.
Stop holding it in.
→ Express who you are
(Today's Badhitude is dedicated to
@pollynowik
for reminding me of the joys of underused childish words)
