Looking forward to Sword/Shield, but I made this to illustrate my point about where I'd like Pokemon to go.
I don't need an open world (though it could be cool if done right) but I'm tired of being on-rails. Give me real exploration.
Hoping to be proved wrong by further info.
Hard to believe it's been almost 10 years since we first met Bruce...in four days, we'll finally see him again.
Look out for Episode 12 of Hard-Mode this Friday. Sorry for the wait.

I try not to be negative, so I'm going to try and make this the last time I dump on this game, but let's examine a few things in this footage:
1. This is animation in a modern, full price console game
2. This man has a huge, regular-ass street trashcan in his office
The new episode of of White: Hard-Mode is live on the site now!

Also, I know it's been a LONG time, but I can finally say that Episode 12 of Hard-Mode is almost finished!
I can't say for sure when it's going to drop, but look out for it soon!
It's always surreal to come across a video like this (showed up in my YouTube recommended feed.) A Nuzlocke video with 6.8 million views...I've never even had ONE million people look at anything I've ever done in my life, haha. (1/3)
Ran into a Tyranitar in the middle of a sandstorm last night. When I caught it, the sandstorm disappeared.
He was causing the sandstorm. This game is neat sometimes.
Since it's been SO long, I thought it would be a good idea to throw together a recap comic in preparation for Episode 12.
If you don't have time to reread the old episodes, this is a good way to re-familiarize yourself with the important story beats up until now:
Nothing peeves me more than seeing people called "entitled" for criticizing a piece of media they're a fan of.
There is no such thing as being entitled in a customer-merchant relationship, you either deliver the product people are happy with and will pay for, or you don't.
So what I'm taking away from this is Toads operate like an ant or bee colony, with a royal caste able to ascend to queen if they consume the right food. Interesting...
small update on me and my life:
TLDR: moved to LA, trying to find work writing scripts, will get back to the comic but trying to prioritize making a career right now
hopefully I'll have the site working correctly soon
So the new site is kinda-sorta up!
We ran out of space on the test server getting everything ready, so we've gone live early to finish up. There's still some features that need adding and some stuff that needs uploading, but you can finally read all the Hard-Mode comics again!
When Gen V was coming out and the dex leaked, I remember thinking the designs were pretty subdued and kind of a return to form after Gen IV.
Now I have to draw Hydreigon though. The fuck was I thinking.
I take back most everything negative I've said about the new games.
I do kind of wish all routes functioned like the Wild Area, but this is a real step forward at least. That's all I really wanted.
Over the years I've thought a lot about what I'd like to see in a monster catching game as Pokemon has kind of stagnated. Kindred Fates looks so far to be pretty close to that ideal game.
Cautiously optimistic.
It's really kind of dawning on me that the last movie I'll ever see in theaters might've been the Sonic movie.
Not a reality I'm ready to come to terms with right now.
I'm not mad about not getting credit--I can say with 90% certainty that this person has no idea I exist. That's pretty normal.
I admit I get envious sometimes, though. It's a weird feeling to put something out into the world and have it grow so, SO much bigger than you. (3/3)
I guess I never realized difficulty in these games was an issue for players.
I always felt this was already an accessible series for all ages, but clearly Game Freak disagrees.
Watching this direct has made me realize what I want in a new Pokémon game:
1) An overworld with room to explore.
2) Pokémon in their environment, not random encounters or just popping up and waddling aimlessly like in Let’s Go.
3) Improved battle animations.
To say I'm disappointed by the D/P remakes wouldn't be accurate, as I expected a Let's Go level abomination.
But they don't look good. Aesthetically, they look inferior to the OG game.
Don't think I'll be playing this one my friends. My original Diamond cartridge still works.
The creator/seller is the one not entitled to your money or your praise. Consuming is a voluntary act.
With that said, if you're unhappy with a product and you buy it anyway, you have no one to blame but yourself.
For those who missed it: White:Hard-Mode Episode 12 went up early yesterday!
...well “early” might not be the right word...but it’s here!

...then again, perhaps I'm just bitter they didn't think to emulate my daring artistic reinterpretation of the scene when designing the remake.
Someday my art will be recognized for its depth and exploration into the human condition. Someday...
I REALLY hope audiences can get over their prejudice against animated movies and go see Into the Spider-Verse, because it might be the greatest super hero (not just Spider-Man) movie I've ever seen.
I'm really not exaggerating. It'll be a tragedy if this makes less than Venom.
Cooking this stuff for my ungrateful Pokémon creatures the last 24 hours has given me an uncontrollable craving...had to go and try some Japanese curry.
#NobuRamen
Is this why the "tall" grass in newer games only reaches a child's knees? Pokemon are crawling around the grass like little bugs? Always assumed it was graphical limitations...
I really can't express how much this has killed the last little bit of immersion I had in these games.
One of my player's characters died in the D&D campaign I've been running on-and-off for the past two years. Been DMing for 5ish years and this is the first time I've killed a player outside of a oneshot.
Feels weird, man.
I should be used to it by now, but in a way I don't think I ever really will.
It's weird to see Nuzlocking explained in a video like this as "a thing on youtube" without even a mention of the origins or a link to my site. (2/3)
Pretty conflicted over this news and the "low morale" at GameFreak right now. I can't help but feel bad for them. I believe they're doing the best they can with these games...but at the same time I think maybe they're just not very competent developers.
I wasn’t totally honest the other day with my tweet about my dog at the cafe, so I’m coming clean: I don’t own a dog, I own a purebred couch gremlin. She spends all day watching me like this from her natural habitat, as is common for the species.
Currently going through the 1000s of spam comments I've been ignoring on the main blog to approve the few genuine ones...
And for the hundreth time I learn why it doesn't pay to ignore your problems...
Pray for me.
I think maybe my experiences have prepared me for saying goodbye to old mons and moving on. Making due with a new team of limited choice just seems like business as usual.
The challenge has changed me, I guess.
fml this is going to be a bitch to figure out, seems like maybe the comic hosting add-on I was using no longer exists? At least this will force me to get off my ass and explain what I've been up to
In his memory, here's a quick drawing of him in one of his more heroic moments: taking down a giant clockwork spider boss atop a speeding train.
RIP Akra Sorah, level 6 Dragonborn Sorcerer. Eaten by a purple worm.
Hate to break the twitter radio silence for something so petty, but I need to vent: just finished FF7 Rebirth today and I feel like I'm from another universe when I see all the glowing 9/10 reviews...this was one of the most convoluted and bloated games I've ever endured.
If it's true that
@JamesGunn
is being fired for some jokes he made back in 2008, that's completely ridiculous. People forget pretty fast how edgy humor on the internet used to be back then, and it's only recently that we've kind of decided it was in bad taste.
I’ll wait to see more before making my final judgement, but it doesn’t look like we’re there yet.
Still looking forward to the new games, but I feel like I have to be honest about this stuff. This is the biggest video game franchise in the world after all.
Been running the D&D module "Descent into Avernus" for some guys. We're still in the early parts, but my friend's character "Choam" recently perished, so I made a tribute pic.
Here he's giving one of his trademark lectures to the pirate Dead-Eye in the Elfsong Tavern.
After giving it some thought, I think I'm ultimately disappointed by these remakes. When you tell me we're going back to Kanto and it's going to be on a home console, I expect Pallet Town to look a bit more like these than what we got back in 96:
RIP one of the most unique shows of all time. Still remember stumbling upon the premiere on Adult Swim all those years ago. Followed it ever since.
Would be beyond cool if a streaming service out there funded at least one more season so we could get some closure.

Unfortunately, it’s true:
#VentureBros
has been canceled. We got the highly disappointing news a few months ago, while we were writing what would have been season 8. We thank you, our amazing fans, for 17 years of your kind (and patient) attention. And, as always, We Love You.
