Yes, I recall my childhood in rural Cumbria. Everyone was English but there were no doctors. Most of us didn’t make it through winter. Especially as we didn’t have any clothes. A nice cup of tea might have warmed us, but alas it did not exist. It’s a wonder any of us survived.
