BEING a teacher in the UK is a horrible experience — it is a taste of hell.
I was a teacher in Zimbabwe for over 10 years.
I loved my work; I remember assemblies where children would greet us in chorus.
I was proud to be a teacher.
The culture here is so strange. There is nothing like stopping students from throwing chairs at each other. The schools here are a complete opposite of the schools back home. Teaching is a nightmare here.
It is the most stressful job in the UK.

Yesterday in the morning around 9:45am, I got a rejection email from an employer. Alhamdulillah before the day ended, I got a call from my sister with information about a job. I went there today and Alhamdulillah I am starting tomorrow. Alhamdulillah!!!
I got a teaching job at a school in Luton which was touted to be one of the best schools. I was grateful and overjoyed. On my first day in class the children looked at me as if they were seeing a ghost. One child raised his hand and said to me: ‘Are you an idiot’.
Our students would salute and greet us on the streets, showing us respect.
A misbehaving pupil would hide, show remorse on being found out.
The day I left for the UK, I was excited and convinced that I would make an impact as a teacher in the land of the Queen.
I was so angry and I walked out to make a complaint to the teacher-in -charge. As I stepped out, the classroom broke into uncontrollable laughter. I had never been insulted by a child and let alone a white one. I was so angry l started shaking.
must not dictate to them. The head takes the word of the child against yours. Now I am working towards extracting myself from a career I was passionate about and I ask myself why?
Those who are thinking of teaching here must brace themselves for a torrid time.”
I was shocked; I was a teacher.
I looked at the child and wanted to hit him but I had been warned never to touch a child or I would die in prison. I pretended I had not heard the child then I heard another say: ‘Hey, are you deaf?’
The head-teacher said he could see nothing on the board and the kids shouted that they had thrown it out after I had tried to hit them with it.
I was asked to go home and reflect on my teaching skills.
The classroom is controlled by children; you must do what they want and you
‘teacher action’ against these wayward children. I went home.
I got a call from the school which informed me that I had been fired because I had no confidence and skills of dealing with children.
I then got another job as a teacher.
Kaduna State University will be resuming academic activities on May 9, 2022. They have decided to not continue with the ASUU strike as the demand by ASUU have nothing to do with the school or it’s staff.
This is a wise decision they have made.
According to Mhofu from Luton, teaching in the UK is no walk in the park.
Mhofu:
“You know, if it wasn’t for teaching, I probably wouldn’t have travelled as much as I did. It was the teaching that got me around the world. But here in the UK, I got a rude awakening.
I walked into the teacher-in-charge’s office. He looked at me and said go and control your class first.
I walked back in the class and everything that followed made me sick to my gut. I just had to leave the classroom as l did not trust myself not to take my typical
said to me: ‘Hey, my son has a father at this school now!’
I said I didn’t know about that and then she accused me of calling him ‘my son’ the previous day in class.
I went numb.
She went to the head and I was seriously admonished.”
The culture here is so strange.
is now having sleepless nights. I was asked to lower my voice or I would be sued if the child went deaf.
I am not a loud speaker; I was shocked. I could not answer. Then one day I was accused of sexual abuse. I was alleged to have touched a girl-child on the shoulder.
an offensive statement. It was a question: ‘What’s the difference between a monkey and a blackman?’
Just below it was an answer: ‘At least a monkey can climb trees.’
When I asked who wrote that in a very angry voice, the class remained silent.
seeing the headmaster, they started screaming.
The headmaster, in front of the children told me I was intimidating the kids and making the learning environment a war zone. I told him they had thrown my bag out of the window and had written racist remarks on the board.
I turned to the board to rub the offending statement. When I was done and turned to the class, I saw my bag fly out of the window.
I got angry and shouted at the class. The head-teacher and a few other teachers rushed to the class. The pupils all rushed to one corner and on
This time, I was called a ‘supply teacher’ who is equivalent to a temporary teacher. The only difference is a supply teacher is a qualified teacher.
I arrived at the school, this time determined to bring some order.
As I walked into the classroom, I saw, on the green board,
According to Paul Taruvinga:
I had my interview with a teaching agency in the UK before I finished University. I was accepted and so when I arrived in London in 2003 on my UK working holiday visa, I was ready to start my teaching career in Hackney, East London, an area I was soon
I was told any form of touching was abuse. I was suspended.
After three months of no pay, I was reinstated.
I now hate teaching with a passion.”
John Dickson:
“l was reprimanded for calling a child ‘my son’. When I came to school the following day there was a fuming parent who
to get to know the city.
It was also a fantastic way for me to learn how to be an adaptable teacher – different students, different classes every day.
One day I was called to the headmaster’s office; I was informed that a child had complained that I speak so loud that the child
Sometimes in doesn’t come in form income— money, but in form of financial problems gone. You want something worth 10k, then boom someone gets it for you.
You didn’t receive the money but your problem is solved.
So let’s be open-minded and say with utmost yaqeen & tawakkul
to discover to be one of London’s most challenging.
I wasn’t quite ready to settle into a full time job so I went straight for the supply (casual, substitute) teaching. This meant I was running all over the East End, going to different schools every day. It was a great way for me

Students in public universities are suffering man. You can’t tell me other wise.
No lecturer has ever told me about the existence of a reference software, in fact there was a course I took in year 2 (Biotechnics and research), we were taught referencing manually.
I want to share something about benefits of Istigfar, salatun nabiy and that dua of “Allahumma akfinin bi halal”, the thing is people will think I am over doing it.
This is my experience I want to share not anyone else’s or some cooked stories.
Carried a girl from KASU to Kabala in our green 406 (France). After long convo we exchanged contact.
A week after we met in KASU and I complained about not picking my calls, she said she lost my number. Called her to see the number and I realized she saved it as “GREEN 406”

Prioritizing child spacing for the well-being of women and children is acceptable, but using birth control solely out of fear of poverty is considered Haram.
We would rather sing “Bakin da Allah ya tsaga ba ya hana shi abinci” through talauci, instead of learning to tie our camels before putting our trust in God.

This teaches us to prepare for death at anytime. Someone lost his life on his way to NYSC camp (he’s just starting life), another celebrated his appointment in a juicy parastatal - died hours later and another was just about to retire, to rest but death came.
Get Ready too!!!
Very few are lucky to be the GMD of NNPC. Dr. Barkindo surpassed that by being the honcho of OPEC. His tenure is over. He’s back home to rest and enjoy his success only for death to come knocking.
May Allah forgive and grant him Jannah!
Concentrate on his business and continue to touch lives. Being Nigerian President isn’t the only way he can help Nigerians. He can leave legacies without occupying any political position.
A lot of youth nowadays just want to have fun. A few are talking about building a saner society, improving values and contributing to knowledge of the ummah.
A lot celebrate people of filth more than our ulamas and other people of knowledge.
My Gov elect Sir
@ubasanius
Here’s something that will be of great benefit to you and to us In Sha Allah. May Allah grant you the ability to discharge your duties, May he grant us ease in our affairs all together.
Congratulations Sir!
Got a 4.2/5.0 GPA in Msc Env. Biology.

The only thing left for us now is Ibadah and seeking knowledge (Islamic and Western). Education will grant you success in this life while your ibadah will take care of you in the next life.
As an employee you can’t dictate how you want to be paid. You can ask for an increase but if the employer refuses, well you got only two options. Be patient or quit.

The dynamics of Govt got him. That’s what happens to people that like to talk thinking they know the solution to a problem without being face with the situation in real.
Same thing goes with politicians, they know the solutions to all our problems until they get into office.
As Muslims, we’re supposed to be the most beautiful souls. Allah instructed us in the Qur’an to have good character and conduct. If your character is bad, you should know that you’re disobeying Allah and there’s a bad deed written for that.
If PO likes let him pick Prof Jega, Datti or Hakeem Baba Ahmed, all of them can’t even deliver their local govts. Nobody knows them politically.
Politics is a game of numbers.
@Iamindo0
We’re not talking about changing diapers and cleaning the children’s wear. Talking about real tarbiyya. Staying on top of the children’s matter to ensure they’re not spoiled, they follow bad friends, striking a balance between freedom and discipline.
We concentrated only on APA style, we learnt everything but manually.
Is it that they never knew about EndNote, Bibtex etc or they chose to groom us the hard way. Mistaking a . for a , was very common in our write ups
In terms of security, Buhari has nothing to tell us. He has failed. Our governors in the North has failed us too.
Things are happening everyday & they’re not getting any better.
We have to put out voices together and demand for peace in our region.
Everyone has a role to play.
A significant amount of Kaduna State Civil Servants didn’t receive August salaries. Rumors are spreading that there isn’t enough money to pay everyone, hence payment will be in batches.
Today is 7th September and no one has said anything about it.
When a man's patience is so powerful that it overwhelms the motives of lust and desire, he reaches the level of the angels, but if his steadfastness is defeated by the motives of lust and desire he joins the rank of the devils.
O Allah, make me healthy in my body. O Allah, preserve for me my hearing. O Allah, preserve for me my sight. There is none worthy of worship but You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is none
I’m glad it didn’t work out for me and that girl. Omo! It would have been a serious battle to change these thoughts and views she has. Kaiii! Subhanallah

The prayer mats are there at night, some of us are still awake or can wake up at night (healthy) but we’re no where to be found when Allah comes down at the third part of the night.
Do you know that a Camel can go 8 days without water? It can lose more than 25% of it’s ideal water content and still be fine. The desert mammal can drink more than 25% of it’s body mass at once when water is available. It’s structure, physiology and behavior made it possible.
