My first article for
@SW_Insider
is here! 🎉
I’m beyond grateful that I was given the opportunity to interview John Jackson Miller about his career and new book. I’ve never done anything this cool before.
I hope you enjoy reading it!
Sorry to tell you this but — streaming has broken your brain.
Cliffhangers at the end of episodes, having more questions than answers, having to wait a week to find out what happens next …
That’s TV. That’s episodic storytelling. It’s GOOD.
#theacolyte
me (almost in tears): BO-KATAN GOT THE SABER BACK WITHOUT CHALLENGING DIN AND BECAUSE SHE SAVED HIM HER SISTER WOULD BE SO PROUD
my husband (actually in tears): …there were battle droids. ONE OF THEM TALKED
“Bad writing” isn’t a valid criticism UNLESS you can elaborate on the specific flaws and why they contribute to a lesser quality story.
Certain Star Wars fans either can’t do that or won’t. For … reasons.
The First Star Wars Books You Should Read 📚
I get this question almost daily. I have 5 general recommendations (a mix of Canon and Legends).
These require minimal “prior knowledge” of the EU and are excellent stories. 🧵
I don’t get the “not what I was expecting” takes with things like Kenobi. It’s … not supposed to be what you expected? Unless you wrote it?? It’s called a story???
At 13 my best friend and I started co-writing Star Wars fanfiction, which fell into the hands of 13 y/o boys, who tried to tell us girls couldn't write Star Wars.
At 28- she wrote her thesis on Star Wars and I get paid to write about Star Wars books.
Never listen to the boys.
You can pick up any Star Wars book having never read one before and still enjoy it.
BUT there are books that make for great “entry points” for new SW readers.
Here are 5 of them. 🧵
Stop supporting Star Wars creators who harass, disrespect, bully, and belittle women.
Their followers make up the loud minority I refuse to name, and though they're a small group, they are very, very loud.
Their words may be empty but they're still hurtful.
Start with that.
I have very few complaints about
#TheBookOfBobaFett
overall and am just going to stay in my corner being happy we got 7 straight weeks of new Star Wars 😎
What’s a Star Wars book that doesn’t exist yet that you NEED?
Mine, until it’s written, will be the Satine/Bo coming-of-age novel I can’t seem to shut up about ✨
It's not that men don't want women in Star Wars or the fandom.
They just want to control which women they think should be allowed to exist in their space.
If I have to explain to you why that's wrong
ʸᵒᵘ'ʳᵉ ᵖᵃʳᵗ ᵒᶠ ᵗʰᵉ ᵖʳᵒᵇˡᵉᵐ
The High Republic really solidified the idea that Jedi experience the Force in different ways, and Obi-Wan describing it as he feels it in Part III brought that to the screen in the most beautiful way. I haven’t stopped thinking about that.
Star Wars books don’t need to be turned into shows/movies. They’re a fine storytelling medium for anyone who wants to read and enjoy them. Not everything needs to be adapted for a screen.
When I say "all Star Wars is good" I don't mean all Star Wars is perfect.
I choose not to let flaws ruin something I love and DEFINITELY don't make it a point to ruin anything for other people. 10/10 would recommend.
No one “makes” Star Wars political. It’s always been political.
Some fans use Star Wars to remind them to keep fighting for the rights of other humans and if you don’t, it’s not your problem that someone else chooses to.
I am terrified to start a Star Wars books podcast.
I’m going to do it anyway. But I’m terrified.
I think the things we’re most afraid to do are the things that change us for the better more than anything, though.
I know we’re all excited for Ezra to see Sabine again but THIS is the reunion I really dream of.
Ezra is just like “hey buddy,” and Chopper immediately rolls up to him and does that weird purr thing and we all sob uncontrollably for the next 4 hours
"What female fans often struggle with the most is feeling safe and comfortable enough to express their love for Star Wars in spaces that already exist for fans. Women shouldn’t have to ask for permission to exist in this fandom."
@proj_stardust
launches in 5 days. 🔥
I ask this sincerely and as a huge fan of the EU/Zahn’s Star Wars books —
What’s something you love about Heir to the Empire besides “it was my first SW book/series,” “I read it when it came out” or “it should still be canon/is better than canon”?
This morning
@ALargerViewPod
asked me to marry him.
I said only if the ring gives me the power to rule Mandalore. 💍
In other words: Yes. A thousand times over.
It doesn’t matter if you read Star Wars books, give them away, collect or display them — celebrating the written world of a galaxy far, far away is valid in all its forms. 📚
Canon, Legends, or both — it all counts.
Help me Star Wars Twitter, you’re my only hope!
My mom needs another Star Wars name for her sourdough starters! So far she has:
Doughbi-Wan Kenobi
Mandoughlorian
Doughba Fett
I suggested Doughgu
It would make her day to flood her phone with ideas. Do your thing, nerds!
Something's happening. In less than a month.
I can't say what quite yet. But ...
To all my female SW fan companions: Get ready. This is for you. For me. For all of us.
It's about time we rise. 🔥
@rexin_around
I don’t always love “put this character in a book! give them a show! comic!” kinds of reactions to every new SW character … Reva is my exception. More! MORE OF HER.

I once tried to build a Star Wars community based on stopping hate.
Of all the things that taught me, the most important is that communities built on spreading the love of Star Wars and its creators are the most welcoming, inclusive, and impactful.
Love is louder.
Your videos, your parody accounts, and your hateful words are unacceptable. You've turned this into a personal attack on me. You think women are treated fairly in this fandom? I wholeheartedly disagree. But I guess that's just my experience.
And no. I am not OK.
The First Star Wars Legends/EU Books You Should Read 📚
I have 5 recommendations for new Legends readers.
Criteria:
- Little to no prior EU knowledge
- Could still mostly fit into Canon(?)
- Has inspired modern SW stories 🧵
Y’all know I’m obsessed with the DARKSABER so let me just say, today’s storytelling was ON POINT. Pay attention. It all makes sense and was set up YEARS ago. Stop looking for reasons to be mad where there aren’t any.
Tweeting this then logging off immediately 🙃
I have PAID Star Wars freelance article writing opportunities open—lists and opinion pieces.
DM and I’ll send over the email address you can reach out to. Would love to work with you!
Also: You don't have to read a Star Wars book or follow a Star Wars author if you don't like their work or Twitter feed. You can just ... not engage! You can just ... move on!
Eventually in life you learn the greatest lesson of all: that the most effective way to silence an attention-seeker is to never give them your attention ever again
There’s a new Star Wars book coming out this week. Prequel fans are going to love it. Everyone should read it. If you’ve liked the “padawan stories” in THR, this book is for you. I could go on. 🔥
You don’t HAVE to read Star Wars books to understand, appreciate, and enjoy Star Wars.
But here are 5 fun things Star Wars book readers now know that others don’t (no actual spoilers).
Din Djarin may not fully agree with Bo’s beliefs or values but he has been nothing but respectful toward her, especially the more he has listened to her story.
In one of her most vulnerable moments he even gets a little emotional.
That’s a good friend right there.
Hello there

authors. I hope to write a Star Wars book someday. 😎
It’s not very often I get to make cool announcements so here goes!
For my first article in Star Wars Insider, I had the privilege of sitting down with
@jjmfaraway
to look back on his work in Star Wars and celebrate his “return” to the universe.
You can read it NEXT WEEK! 📚😎
Are you watching? Are you reading? Are you paying attention?
This is what it's like to be a woman on the internet.
Next time you accuse one of us of making things up, remember this.
I don’t know who needs to be told this but all of Star Wars Legos is not canon. In one story they had an orphan kid Han become BFF with Yoda. He calls him Yo-yo.
