A few days after my mom died when I was 9, my neighbor Mrs. Laing called me over as I walked by her house. In front of me, she dug up a crocus bulb & then planted it in my own backyard. "Think of your mom when this blooms every spring" she said. I'm still moved by her gesture. <3

After a woman with Downs Syndrome worked at Walmart for 16 Yrs on the same 12-4 shift, Walmart introduced computerized scheduling that frequently changed her #work hours. Walmart then fired her for "attendance problems." A jury today awarded her the $600k max settlement. #Heart

How my faith in #humanity was restored: In Chicago yesterday, where the temperature was 20 degrees below zero, a Good Samaritan paid for 70 hotel rooms so many homeless people would be safe. Other kind souls bought hundreds of heater lamps to warm up homeless encampments. #Heart

When I was in college, I worked at a men's clothing store. Before each semester, my manager would change my #work schedule to accommodate my class schedule. In other words, he supported my #education even allowing me to arrive 10 Min late 2x a week. I did great work for him.
