They were asked to play a game: run to a designated tree and the winner gets a basket of fruits. They looked at one another, joined hands and walked to the tree. Asked why they did that, they replied, "How can one of us be happy if the others are sad?"

Every state should have these - a place where women in abusive relationships can live while they heal and decide how they will rebuild their lives. In villages, towns & cities. It would make such a difference to vulnerable women & children. 'Umoja' is the Swahili word for Unity.

Not necessarily. Being a good person doesn’t mean you don’t have boundaries and enforce them. There’s nothing good about letting others take advantage of you. It’s not good for them nor is it good for you.

You have not sought to shame your father but to give voice to your mother’s pain. I only wish she had lived to see how you stood up for her. She would have been the first to put her hand on your head and pray for God’s blessings upon you. You have honoured her. Tis well.

If 1 of those at her get together already had the disease, s/he will likely infect others there. They will in turn go to their homes and spread the infection. Actions like these will lead to an explosion of cases, which we can't manage. It's better to be tough if it saves lives.
