Flight deck structural work is nearly complete. 30 metres long the T31 can embark and operate Wildcat and Merlin helicopters. Whilst the hangar has dedicated workshops and space for support equipment so that they can be maintained when deployed

Privileged to welcome Venturer's sponsor, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to the Ship for the first time. More detail in the article linked below 👇. A particularly memorable occasion for Leading Hand Adam Duncan who was presented his LSGC medal by HRH.

Latest photos from within Babcock’s Venturer Building in Rosyth showing the first blocks of HMS ACTIVE. It’s the 2nd in the T31 Class ahead of its keel laying ceremony next month - a day for employees both Babcock and MoD to celebrate this milestone.
@Babcockplc
This week saw another important milestone in the life of HMS Venturer with the first members of crew joining in Rosyth. They will be instrumental in developing the routines and procedures for operating the Type 31 Class whilst preparing for their shipmates who will join next year
The Ship's bow section was recently installed by
@Babcockplc

A day at sea on HDMS Peter Willemoes learning from the Royal Danish Navy's experience of operating the platform on which Venturer's design is based. An incredible, professional, and welcoming crew. And a pleasure to sail with the Chief of the RDN.

Heavy Engineering (literally) - 'Drop Stern' is now complete, marking steady progress in the Ship's build. Note the white 'A' brackets which will now be aligned, that will later house the propeller shafts.

The Type 31 team has successfully completed another milestone for
@HMSVenturerRN
. Drop stern involves removing all support brackets from the aft end of the ship and, using ballast weights, to allow the stern to settle at its design position.

2015 Lt Cdr David Balme died aged 95. In 1941 as a Sub Lieutenant he led the boarding party from HMS BULLDOG to U-110 that retrieved an Enigma coding machine and documents that enabled the allies to begin reading German Radio messages, a turning point in

Grand Block 02 on the move from production hall to paint hall by SPMT (self propelled motor transport). Weight of the block is 260 metric tons. Each SPMT can lift 250t, more when combined. Yes the eagle eyed will note

in view.
A beautiful sunny day in Fife, perfect for ship building. Grand Block 01 on the move to the paint facility. You can clearly see the transom and rudder cassettes already installed
On this day in 1945, HMS Venturer became the only submarine in history to sink another (U-864) whilst both were submerged. Our name represents the theme of technology and innovation, inspired by the actions of Venturer and her Commanding Officer Jimmy Launders

Although you can't put her on weighing scales

We have carried out key hull consolidation activities at Rosyth that allowed the weighing of HMS Venturer, the first warship of the Type 31 ‘Inspiration Class’, to enable validation checks at this point of the build.

Receiving our King's Coronation Medals from our SURFLOT Chain of Command. Dressed in hard hats and florescent jackets on Venturer's fo'c'sle, with welding and fabrication continuing in the background felt entirely appropriate 👌🥇

The Command System is the 'brain' of the Ship, intelligently linking weapons with sensors. The shipbuilding team visited ours prior to packaging it up for transit, then installation here in Rosyth. The system brings plenty of new capability to the RN.

for a programme visit. The group saw the T31 Combat System set up before the hardware is packaged and sent to Rosyth for installation.
@HMSVenturerRN
Walking the Chief Naval Engineer Officer through opportunities to exploit the T31 platform to crew it and operate it differently. Next to him, Head of the Marine Engineering profession is clearly delighted by the potential of deleting routine ME watchkeeping👇😅

It was lift-off for HMS Active, the Type 31 Inspiration Class frigate, as two major blocks which are part of its modular construction were safely lifted and turned to prepare for integration in our Venturer Building at Rosyth.
The Type 31 team recently completed a number of key activities on HMS Active, the second ship in the programme. The team completed hot work on the deck of the ship’s two engine rooms and a four-week blast and paint cycle before lifting the first of the main engines into place.
A good article recently published in European Security & Defence discusses the process of delivering new warships for the Royal Navy, including the Type 31 Frigate.

1941 a boarding party under SLt David Balme from HMS BULLDOG captured a secret Enigma machine from U-110 after depth charging her to the surface. This discovery was one of the greatest ever intelligence coups and undoubtedly saved thousands if not millions of lives.

A few more photos of the block with the Skeg clearly visible. You will note that the block is upside down. This is done to aid mechanical production. The block will be turned using the Goliath crane once painted.
Anschuetz UK completed Factory Acceptance Testing of the first Warship Integrated Navigation and Bridge System (WINBS) for the Type 31 frigates at their Portsdown Technology Park facility at the end of 2023.
The equipment will be delivered for integration on HMS Venturer

Not as part of the initial design and build although there is space, weight and power in the design to adapt T31 for ASW in the future if needed. T26 is specifically designed to be a world beating ASW platform leaving T31 for more general duties.

Venturer and Essex share a common tie with technology and innovation. A visit to the Marconi Exhibition in Chelmsford Museum sparked some fond memories for our Deputy Weapon Engineer Officer 😉 and highlighted the generational leap in technology that Type 31 frigate introduces.
