We’re deeply saddened to share that Leon Lederman, Nobel laureate, former Fermilab director, and passionate advocate of science education, died today at age 96.
The strong evidence that muons deviate from the Standard Model calculation might hint at exciting new physics. Muons act as a window into the subatomic world and could be interacting with yet undiscovered particles or forces.

The combined results from Fermilab and Brookhaven show a difference with theory at a significance of 4.2 sigma. The chance that the results are a statistical fluctuation is about 1 in 40,000.

It's our birthday! 🎂 🎂 🎂
Today Fermilab turns 54. We've come a long way since the lab's earliest employees moved into their first offices on this day in 1967.
Physics fans, we are overwhelmed by your excitement. You're breaking all of our pages and streams like they're the Standard Model! We're working on it - thanks for your patience. The talk is also being recorded and will be available if you can't get to it right now.
