One of the themes I keep returning to here on Twitter is that Republican voters are not “brainwashed.” If we are ever going to understand how to defeat them, we first have to understand who they really are; that they have agency; and that they chose to believe what they believe.

What is this I’m seeing today about Biden being “personally pro-life?” I’m trying really hard to be OK with Biden, because if nothing else, I like the fact that he is suffocating Bernie. But every time I feel like I’m getting there, Biden opens his mouth and says something dumb.

A lot of people really want to believe that their mom and dad or their beloved aunt or sister were just fine until Fox News brainwashed them. But Fox couldn’t have influenced them if they weren’t predisposed that way to begin with. Who watches Fox if they aren’t already “got”?
