I’m no expert on Barca’s finances, but dropping €50m on a 33-year-old striker when you already have Aubameyang and are laden with debt and are struggling (or refusing) to meet other contractual obligations just seems beyond crazy.

Nacho Monreal has announced his retirement, aged 36. One of, if not the best, defensive signing Wenger made during his final decade at the club. Always gave everything. Loved him as a player. So underrated. His goal against City at Wembley is such a great memory.

Monreal can leave with his head held high. Excellent servant, underrated by those outside Arsenal. Won trophies and always gave everything for the club. Also continued to play while this transfer played out, unlike some. That goal against City at Wembley his stand-out moment.
