Veteran staffer Elias Mendez didn’t return this spring; back problems. His brother & grandson work here too. Bad diagnosis this week & he passed last nite. A hard worker, but seeing him outside with his brother Domingo having lunch together each day is what I’ll miss the most. 🙏

A little preventative watering and training with our AIT Evan before we head home to be with our families on this Holiday🇺🇸. It occurred to me this morning, you know the saying “I’ve done this 1000 times!”? Well, in 32 seasons here, I’m sure I’ve hand watered greens 1000 times.😀

Smallish crew checked greens moisture, mowed, rolled, set up the course and checked bunkers. 8:30 gun; always a busy day! Son Brock helped with course set up; he and I are out for a quick breakfast before church. Happy Father’s Day!! ❤️⛳️

Medical emergency on our golf course yesterday afternoon; 3 squad cars & an ambulance required in the far corner of the property. A reminder to have a plan and be prepared for these types of situations. They occur without warning. Clear communication required!!

Seriously; can’t replace a divot? Look at that mess! Once saw Gary Player meticulously mend a multi-piece divot back into place late in the 4th round of a major he eventually won. Not a huge fan of his, but made an impact on me; superior etiquette even when it wasn’t convenient.

Some will see the 4:30 AM Strawberry Moon. I gaze at that beauty and am further encouraged that all is right when the sprinkler I turn on pops up and I can hear the water running through the well head. The dry conditions continue, but the day is indeed off to a good start!

This season, carts debuted April 3rd. Friday, Saturday & Sunday were the first days of cart restrictions of any kind ALL YEAR. These trolley marks are the right kind of cart wear!! Can’t see them? That’s the point….it’s a walking game!!

Forecast cooperated and we finished the forward tee on 16. Marker placement available at 90 yards now and we plan to finish additional tees this year that will allow for a 4,250 yard +/- layout. #playitforward

5 years ago today. 🌳 110 trees down in 10 minutes on the prior afternoon. Closed five days; hundreds of other trees required corrective pruning. Another mini-crisis that we learned from and rose to the occasion for. #topnotchteam

Brief, but intense thunderstorm. Mother Nature got game! Only .36” (so far), almost no limbs down & a direct hit on a Cottonwood. Area will be roped off; plz stay clear of this tree. All play from forward tees on #9 . We hope to remove the tree no later than Monday. 🧨
