Unfortunately not in Louisville for the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby this year - but for the best reason possible. I became a dad for the first time last night. My little one missed the Oaks yesterday but she made sure she wasn’t going to miss the Run for the Roses!

Arrogate is the best dirt horse I’ve ever seen live. An easy argument for American Pharoah can be made, but Arrogate’s best is the best I’ve ever seen. When I think of Arrogate, I think of raw power - a late ‘60s muscle car. He was something special.

Watch the start of the race. The 14 post is brutal and it’s all because of the auxiliary gate. CD needs to spend a few bucks and buy a custom, 20-stall, starting gate. The greatest race in the world deserves better.

Maximum Security very clearly impeded War of Will. MS was likely the best horse in the race today - but that doesn't change the fact that he impeded War of Will, likely costing him a placing. Country House happens to be the beneficiary. A warranted DQ IMO. #KentuckyDerby

I think the DQ was warranted...but I think this is ridiculous. IMO Saez had nothing to do with the horse ducking out - and he did a great job correcting course as soon as he could. Very much against this ruling.

I’m stunned by the number of people who refuse to believe a horse can run the best race and still lose. Just because a horse crosses the finish line first doesn’t mean they were necessarily the best in the race. Circumstances must be taken into consideration.

Taiba got the final 1/8th of his six-furlong debut in :12.00 - which is silly. Taiba got the final 1/8th of his nine-furlong Santa Anita Derby win in :12.53 - which is absurd. He may not win the Kentucky Derby, but Taiba's talent is off the charts.

Based on certain comments from folks you’d think the only reason Justify won the Triple Crown is because Baffert had another runner in the race. An undefeated Triple Crown winner was dependent on another horse to accomplish this feat. Sure thing. 👌🏻

The PClassic gets sillier with each watch. I’ve always believed Arrogate’s best is better than any other horse’s best of the past ten years…but I don’t believe that’s the case anymore. Flightline is something different.

Part of what makes the Keeneland Turf Pick Three so appealing is the combination of the higher entry point ($3) AND the low takeout (15%). The BC / Santa Anita Turf Pick Three is far less interesting at a higher rate of takeout (23.68%).

Incredible effort from the filly Swiss Skydiver to win the Preakness. I didn’t think she could win by sitting off the pace - but she did, and did so impressively. Also gutsy effort from Authentic.

Crown Pride’s training compared to others reminds me of the way pitchers were used in baseball 20+ years ago compared to today. You understand why things are done the way they are these days, but it’s still refreshing to see a change of pace.
