We in the UK cannot let this happen, just like the climate crisis, the wealth at the top of the richest countries sacrifices the health of people and planet. Health is a public right, not a private commodity
#PeoplesVaccine
This one map sums up how rich countries like the UK are blocking the poorest from the vaccine. The red crosses are those at the WTO refusing a waiver for the mass production of a vaccine. Never let a global pandemic stand in the way of profit.

My long read on the economics of COVID-19 is now online
@ConversationUK
. TLDR: COVID-19 shows the limits of market-oriented economies. But we aren't out of the woods, we have to organise around an ethic of care if we want any good to come out of this.
“But for Indigenous peoples it is clear: the less you know about something, the less value it has to you, and the easier it is to destroy. And by easy, I mean: guiltlessly, remorselessly, foolishly, even righteously.” Must read letter by Nemonte Nenquimo

3/ Internal space restriction, i.e. lack of space on the train, is a CHOICE you, as private operators, have made in order to maximise profit margin of extortionate ticket prices per seat. Bikes are not paying you, so you limit their space.. no space is not our problem but yours..
Problems with the term 'climate refugee' include:
-It obscures how the climate crisis *exacerbates* pre-existing problems i.e Western-led development projects that create insecurity + poverty
-It feeds anti-migrant narratives that promote border security
This thread is so revealing but this Cllr's decision is the most enraging/gutting for me. It highlights where decision-making continues to go wrong, clinging to a worldview in which 'rationality' is somehow considered separate from people's values
Cllr Finnigan says this decision is a case of going with the heart (rejecting expansion) or going with the head (supporting it).
He says if we don’t take this economic opportunity, someone else will. 🤦♂️
So with ‘reluctance’ he says he will support.
It’s 2-2 by my count.

This poorly argued article perfectly demonstrates what the youth are and should be protesting against; incomprehension at the urgency of our environmental crisis whilst maintaining a patronising abdication of responsibility suggesting the kids 'pick up litter while they're at it'
The article calls for three moves: from resilience to reflexive governance; towards a relational worldview; and from responsibility to response-ability
