There are more homicides in Milwaukee each year than in the rest of Wisconsin combined. In 2021, Milwaukee suffered a record 194 homicides vs. a total of 127 everywhere else. That means the city with only 10% of the state’s population had 60% of the state’s homicides in 2021.

The Hop isn't getting riders-even during the RNC. It's completely useless. When you can walk anywhere along the route faster than waiting 15 min for a trolley, then enduring a slow ride, 'why don't we just walk there?' isn't an infrequent question.
