This story is absolutely enraging. Les Moonves, who allegedly sexually harassed women for decades, tried to ruin Janet Jackson's career after her wardrobe malfunction. How the hell is he still in charge of CBS?
Boston is really a good place to live. Got a notification I was exposed to Covid over the weekend, went to my neighborhood’s BPL to get free rapid tests, and 15 minutes later, I know I’m Covid free.
@wutrain
did a great job here.
This is really gross. Disparaging somebody for trying to make ends meet? Your income bracket doesn’t make you better than anybody else. It is sad we are often told otherwise.
I have always known two things about myself: I'm gay, and love to write about sports. I'm super excited to be able to combine the two as the new deputy managing editor of
@outsports
! There are lots of great stories of courage to tell.
I have had several ICE COLD BEERS and feel sentimental.
@GerryCallahan
and
@kirkmin
hosted a No. 1 morning show and gave a weird 20-something with a screechy voice a seat at the table. They supported me and didn’t a give a shit about mean texts. They are the best. Today sucks.
Today marks the end of my run at
@WEEI
. It feels surreal. I want to thank (most of) you for reading and listening. It’s not too often people get to actually work their dream job. I do feel lucky.
I wrote some more words about my decision here:
I fucking loved being part of
@KirkAndCallahan
over these last two years — when I wasn’t banned, which was half the time.
@GerryCallahan
&
@kirkmin
gave me an equal seat at the table. It was risky, unprecedented in sports radio. It worked. I love them (no homo, of course).
Official response from the Mayor's office on
@gfstarr1
's fabricated report about Mayor WU wanting to meet with Jarron Duran, btw: "I don't think the reporter had a real source because that information was completely made up."
In today's environment, how can you report that Michelle Wu is requesting a meeting with a Red Sox player over an antigay slur without being certain? Don't you know the toxic response it will generate, & homophobia it will bring out? I'm flabbergasted.
I just signed this petition to save Boston fitness. According to state data, out of over 35,000 Covid cases last month, just 17 were linked to gyms. Let’s stop with the pandemic theatre and needlessly putting more people out of business.
NEW Media Column: An interview with
@KayceSmith
, who insists
@barstoolsports
isn't sexist, and lashes out at female journalists who criticize other women for working there.
So NFL players must show respect for the flag by standing for the anthem, but fans are free to buy $10 beers and TV networks are free to show commercials during the song? Got it.
TV reporter: “People have locked down their spots for hours. They are super excited. How early did you come here to lock down this spot?
Red Sox fan: “We came here 15 minutes ago.”
@Tania4D7
She apologized after crashing an unlicensed car into a house and was driving without a license with her 7 year old in the front seat with no booster seat. Let’s not give her a badge of courage.
Massachusetts taxpayers are going to get a lot of money back—unless you’re in the bottom 20% of earners. They will only receive an average of $9 back. People making over $1 million? At least $22,000. The people who need help the most never get it. It’s very cruel and sad.
On
#NationalComingOutDay
, I don’t want to post any pictures of my closeted self, because contrary to what I was afraid of at the time, my life didn’t end when I came out. In many respects, it just began. The glory years are now.
The Seahawks reportedly traded Michael Bennett because they want to a quieter locker room. Josh Rosen can’t lead because he’s opinionated. NFL teams are still really dumb.
Trump’s personal assistant is strikingly handsome –– and talented: “Over the weekend, McEntee ensured that the clocks in the White House residence were adjusted for daylight-saving time.”
Andrew Luck said last night he couldn’t keep playing football and live the life he wants to live. That’s all we should need to hear. There’s nothing shameful about quitting to pursue happiness. In fact, it’s brave.
I think
@IngrahamAngle
is a vile person and am not shedding any tears for her. But these companies pulling out should not be applauded. They had no problem with her commentary until the mob started forming. This is PR, not a stand of moral conviction.
Everybody who is “ready for fall!” will regret it when the sun starts to set at 5 and we are trapped in our homes without even the sweet light of al fresco dining to break up our dystopian monotony.
I just received the nicest email from a WEEI listener who heard me during overnights recently. Being a freelancer can be so lonely, especially these days. It means so much to get notes like those. If you're ever on the fence about reaching out to someone, do it!
@WEEI
I am* beyond* excited to getting started in the State House, where I will serve as
@EricLesser
’s Communications Director. He is a big proponent of East-West Rail. My hero
@AOC
would be proud of me.
I have some personal news to share: My time with
@AudacySports
is over. I was told my writing position is being eliminated. And honestly, I’m OK. While it always sucks to lose your job, I’m really excited to embark on new opportunities. My DMs are open—please reach out!
Some news from me: I'm back, and better than ever. Tomorrow, I'll be starting a new role with
@RDCSports
. That means you'll be seeing my stuff on
@WEEI
, and other stations throughout the Northeast. I can't wait to rejoin the team!
Elon’s war on substack is shitty. Tweeting out substack articles is a great way for freelancers & different writers to get eyes on their work—and maybe make some side money, too. Some champion for free speech.
Erin Andrews hugging Aaron Rodgers at the end of a socially distanced interview is the TV equivalent of wearing your mask on the way to the table and then taking it off for the rest of the meal.
This is the best Red Sox team in history, and frankly, it isn't close. Franchise-record for wins, never lost more than three games in a row, and didn't drop more than one game in a postseason series. A complete wagon.
On behalf of all millennials who have lived through two global recessions in 10 years and just general crappiness, I would like to say these spring breakers are from GEN Z. Thank you.
“If I get corona, I get corona. At the end of the day, I'm not gonna let it stop me from partying”: Spring breakers are still flocking to Miami, despite coronavirus warnings.
Bill Belichick has carried himself terribly through the Antonio Brown ordeal. Legitimate questions about sexual misconduct allegations against a player whom he signed deserve more than a sneer and stare down.
I'm sorry, so the mayor of Denver tells people to avoid holiday travel, and then gets on a plane to Mississippi?!
How can you expect people to take your warnings seriously if you don't even take them seriously?
In today's environment, how can you report that Michelle Wu is requesting a meeting with a Red Sox player over an antigay slur without being certain? Don't you know the toxic response it will generate, & homophobia it will bring out? I'm flabbergasted.
I've spent much of my 20s obsessing over my career. It's mostly brought me misery. On my 28th birthday, I have a message for my younger self: Calm the fuck down.
My latest:
I will never, for the life of me, understand people who are outraged by Sweet Caroline and/or “Yankees Suck” chants. People go to Fenway Park to have fun.
I don’t care if impeachment “fires up Trump’s base.” It fires me up, and there are more of us than them. Never forget that. Finally, we are going on offense.
Just called the Martin County's sheriff office to speak with William Snyder about the Kraft case. Was told he does not comment on ongoing cases. Seems strange, since he was so available during the onset of the case, even penning an op-ed in the
@BostonGlobe
. What's changed?
Happy
#NationalComingOutDay
from the kid who went from wearing board shorts to a speedo. I don’t feel like my life really started until I came out, and each year keeps getting better.
My Sunday night ritual of gasping at how much money I spent over the weekend and then transferring money from my savings to checking account is one of the saddest things I do.
I'm so sad to hear about what's happened at
@NBCSBoston
. There are so many nice people who work there.
@Gary_Tanguay
has always been kind to me. He's reached out with encouraging words on many occasions. These are demoralizing times for our industry.
It’s so clear Trump’s plan is to declare victory on Election Night before mail-in votes are counted. The best way to combat that is to ... vote IN-PERSON. If you’ve been to a grocery store over the last six months, you can go to a polling place.
What is the problem with that
@Gillette
commercial? I just watched it. Talks about putting an end to sexual harassment and bullying. Seems like the least controversial message ever. I really don't get it.
Getting a call from
@GlennDOrdway
to help him on his new show was surreal--at least for this sports talk-obsessed college student. Working alongside him on
@WEEI
was even more surreal. Nobody has launched more careers in his town than Glenn. Congratulations on an incredible run
I am 30 years old today. I’m in a much better place than when I was 20, and I think that’s all you can ask for. I’m so appreciative for my friends and family. As I’ve aged, I’ve come to realize that community is the most important thing, and I’ve built a great one.
Andrew Luck and Rob Gronkowski were two of the best football players on the planet. They both quit the game in the prime of their careers, leaving hundreds of millions on the table, because it was making them miserable. The harbinger of doom for the NFL grows darker.
