This impending fare hike is the tip of the iceberg as SEPTA reaches the precipice of a dangerous fiscal cliff and death-spiraling ridership losses. We need Harrisburg to reach a deal on transportation funding TODAY or transit agencies statewide will see similar fates.

Sign our petition to Tell PennDOT: Don’t Widen I-95 in Center City & South Philly. This project threatens the well-being of our neighborhoods by worsening air quality, increasing noise pollution, and harming our access to the waterfront. [2/2]

Heartbreaking piece by Dr. Friedes’ colleagues β€œWe call on the Mayor and City Council to honor her life, and the lives of our patients and families […] by investing in safe streets for Philadelphians. β€œWe all deserve to survive our journeys home.”

PennDOT is about to spend billions on only one of these roadways due to β€œsafety” concerns. We shouldn’t be sacrificing our public waterfront space for wider highway shoulders.

@EdFuller_PSU Here's one attempt at comparison: The I-95 stretch from Ben Franklin to Walt Whitman recorded 8 fatal crashes over 10 years with ~140k daily vehicles. A similar length stretch of North Broad recorded 27 fatal crashes with ~40k daily vehicles. Approx. ~11.8x more per vehicle.

Powerful words from a Spruce St resident: β€œIt is the city’s responsibility to keep its streets safe. And the city has failed at that task dramatically, as demonstrated by the number of pedestrian and cyclist collisions in recent years”

This Friday @ 9am, the Philadelphia Historical Commission has the Washington Square West Historic District on the agenda. If approved, it will restrict housing on an enormous swath of Center City -- in our most amenity & transit-rich neighborhood. 1/

We are grateful for Mayor Parker publicly responding to our petition asking for safer bike lanes throughout Philadelphia. We hope this office and City Council will have the political courage to stand up for roadway safety as plans become more concrete.

Putting more homes right where transit is is important for both our environment and for making transit accessible to more people. But City Council is actively hostile to growing our city sustainably.

When 100% of public space has ceded to motor vehicles, you can fear getting run over by a car 100% of the time when you are outside your house.

PA Senate Transportation Committee holds the latest in a series of hearings to look at transportation needs across PA, particularly with mass transit. Republican Wayne Langerholc says more must be done than just increasing spending. Democrat Marty Flynn says more money is needed.

Hi @SEPTA_SOCIAL , were the police officers (πŸ‘‡) transported by SEPTA bus drivers all wearing masks, as required by SEPTA’s mandatory mask policy? Your riders have a right to know.
