So my lil cousin has been missing over 24 hours smh. Jada, Arlington, TX BW brown skinned Age 20, about 5’4”, 140 lbs, wears glasses, drives a gray Dodge Caliber.
This man brought black american funk & soul to Brazil & did it his way. Lived in the US for 5 years, joined doo wop groups. Got deported. Brought it back home. Legend.
Once I learned I could design my life the way I want it (& gave myself permission to do so) it was game over. You lose battles here & there, but with proper vision, you win the war.
The more I hung out I noticed, that besides language, black brazilians weren’t that different from us & the reason for that is similarity in dynamics we both face. They self identify the same way we do as black, very matter of fact, with no confusion abt it either.
Their relationship to the dominant society of their country is similar to ours. And their relationship to police there is similar to ours (I was even profiled once there). Besides having their own rich musical culture, they also have a genuine love & appreciation for ours…
My bad y’all meant to follow up, but I’m busy on tour, I’m in Brazil rn. A little abt me, I’m native black american international DJ & this is my 5th time in Brazil. Been to just abt every region here too, so made a lot of observations.
The first day I came to Brazil (São Paulo) over 3 years ago, my homie from here told me about a holiday on November 20th in Brazil called, Black Consciousness Day:
Thank you so much for the continued RT’s & support! The search & rescue teams w/dogs are out in Arlington, TX right now and drones still looking! Please continue to spread the word 🙏🏾🖤
The song in the video: Optimistic by Sounds of Blackness produced by the legendary Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (
@flytetymejam
&
@TLSOUNDOFF
) (they produced all of Janet Jackson’s hits)
My Japan debut was an absolute BLAST! I’m exhausted lol, but had the time of my life! Still processing everything from this epic journey and just wanna say thanks! Arigato! 🙏🏾 The warm welcome from the people of Japan & their appreciation for the music is unmatched! 🫡 🇯🇵🔥🔊

Another similarity is that they’ve been on their land 500+ years in relation to a dominant society just as we have. Other groups either don’t go that far back on the land they live or they’re the majority in their land.
This is where u ask the DJ to switch the music up, not go off on ur customers smh. All these new regulations have staff & owners forgetting abt customer service. And it will cost.
